Workers in rural areas are employed by local governments or community organizations for up to 400 hours to assist them with eligibility for Employment Insurance benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Community Enhancement Employment Program provides funding towards projects that contribute to tourism development, economic development, community\/municipal infrastructure, and community services. As we are a non-profit band, we do not have core funding, and can only secure positions based on the projects we get approved. Having said that, we have a number of employees who have been with us for 10-15 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current staff are retained by moving them from project-to-project within the same tier (theme) of the department in which they currently serve.
